Development issue: Maximum chain contains 2 Cargo Directors

Scenario:

• If a chain with multiple parties is active, the maximum chain within Cargo Controller or Cargo Release Manager is limited to 3 parties:
  • Release to Party
    Upon receiving the release, a Release-to Party immediately also becomes Cargo Director. This role can be transferred to the next party.
  • Cargo Director
    This may also be the Release-to Party, or be designated by the Release-to Party. This party is the only one that can now nominate or appoint a subsequent party as Cargo Director.
  • Cargo Director
    This party must now nominate a Cargo Director.

Roles:

• Shipping Line / Agent
• Release-to Party
• Cargo Director(s)

Services:

• Cargo Controller
• Cargo Release Manager

Result:

• The last Cargo Director is stuck in the chain and can now only nominate an Inland Operator.
• This occurs in less than 1% of all releases that take place via the Secure Chain.

Workaround:

• Option 1: The chain skips a party in the chain, the last authorised Cargo Director must nominate an Inland Operator.

Planning solution:

• A technical solution is being developed to allow a longer chain within the Secure Chain. Mid-October 2024
