In this article, we explain important features and useful components of the service Inspection Portal.
Set up email notifications
In the service Inspection Portal, you can set up various email notifications so that you can carry out your tasks in the service directly and/or initiate follow-up actions based on these notifications. The service supports the following email notifications. The moment of sending is indicated after each notification.
- Inspection announced: for each B/L for which you receive an inspection
- Inspection released: for each released inspection
- Additional inspection announced: when Customs wishes to carry out a follow-up inspection
- Additional inspection cancelled: when cancelling or undoing a follow-up inspection
- Inspection removed: when Customs removes an inspection
- Inspection released for external scan: when Customs (in consultation) releases a container for external scanning.
- Discharge location changed: when the discharge location of a container is changed.
Follow these steps to activate one or more of these notifications:
- After logging in, click the user icon at the top right
- The user menu opens, then click notification settings
- Enter your email address for the notifications you wish to receive.
Keeping an overview and searching for inspections
In the service, you get an overview of all inspections on the cargo reported by Customs. You only see inspections from the past two weeks and the planned inspections for the coming week.
Some useful ways to keep an overview or search for inspections are:
- You can adjust the filter as desired. When searching by container number, B/L number or CRN, you do not need to enter a date. The filter is applied when you click Display.
- You can sort results by clicking the relevant column.
- You can use a free search field. For example, search by terminal name.
- Use the download button when you want to request data for a longer period. You will receive all inspections within the selected time range in a digital file.
This last option depends on certain rights assigned to you as a user by the user administrator of your organisation.
The detail screen
When you select an inspection from the overview screen, you can view the details of the inspection. Below we explain some components of the detail screen:
- Under General you will find information about:
- B/L
- The container
- Vessel voyage
- Discharge confirmation (if available)
- Only when applicable, you will see here on behalf of which covenant partner Customs will carry out the inspection.
- Under Inspection status you will find all changes in the status of the inspection. This is supplemented with the date and time when the change took place. You will also find any comments from Customs here, if provided.
- Under Inspection(s) you will find the registered inspections for the relevant container and the location where the inspection takes place.
Location of the inspection
The location Inspection bay means that the inspection takes place at the terminal of arrival. The location DCL means that you must (have) the cargo transported to the nearest Customs Control Shed/National Inspection Terminal, so that the inspection can take place there.
Other functions of Inspection Portal are hidden and only visible depending on your user rights assigned by the user administrator of your organisation.
