Introduction
Managing your interfaces is done via the PCS-service System interfaces (EDIFACT/XML). You can find this in the Port Community System (PCS). As a technical administrator, you can easily implement changes yourself here.
To safeguard security, it is important that the right person is granted access to this portal.
Getting access consists of 3 steps:
Where do I manage my interfaces?
Managing your interfaces is done via the PCS-service System interfaces (EDIFACT/XML). You can find this in the Port Community System (PCS).
Prepare the interface
In the system interfaces portal you will see an overview of your interfaces. Using the Details option (on the right) you can view more information and settings for this interface. This is the place to configure your interface or authorise your software supplier to do this.
URL and login name for a new interface
In the first block What do I need to connect to? you will find the service URL and login name to set up the interface in your sFTP client software.
Set up authentication key(s)
In the second block you set up the authentication key(s) you will use for the interface. It is important that you know what SSH keys are, how to create them, and how to use them in your own sFTP system. Read more information about the required SSH keys here.
For the keys we use the OpenSSH format. When you open your public key in a text editor, the first line must start with ssh-rsa. For example:
ssh-rsa AAAAB5GzaC1yc2EAAAADAQABAAABAQ...
If the first line starts with ---- BEGIN SSH2 PUBLIC KEY ---- then the key is in the SSH2 / RFC4716 format. This is often used by older tools such as PuTTY; we do not support this format.
Click Add key to open the screen.
Add public SSH key
On this screen you enter the public SSH key for the interface. In your own sFTP client software you use the corresponding private SSH key. You can optionally add your own description for the key. Confirm the key via Add key.
If the key can be added successfully, the fingerprint, fingerprint comment and any description will be visible. If the key is not correct, an error message will be shown.
Review the interface with the Portbase sFTP server
The interface is now set up and ready to test. Review whether you can connect from your sFTP client to the Portbase sFTP server via this interface.
Switch message flows to the new interface
If you received a connection with Portbase after 1 June 2025, you can skip this step.
If you have a new working interface and you have paused your message flows, you can switch the message flows to the new interface via the ‘Migrate system interface’ button.
After you confirm the migration, message traffic will run via the new interface.
