In most cases it is not possible to change an EAN number. An EAN number is linked to a specific organisation and therefore indirectly also to the associated Chamber of Commerce number. The EAN number always remains linked to that organisation.
When the Chamber of Commerce number changes, for example due to a merger, acquisition or change of legal entity, this involves a new organisation. An organisation that falls under a different Chamber of Commerce number is always considered a new organisation. In that case, a new EAN number is usually issued as well.
This means that in most cases it is not a change to an existing EAN number, but a new register. That is why a new EAN number usually cannot be submitted via the change form. Instead, a new register must be requested for the new organisation with the new Chamber of Commerce number and EAN number. In this case, register a new organisation and request your services again.
Only in exceptional situations can an EAN change be processed via the change form.
