Passing on the release can be done via an authorisation to a logistics chain partner or by directly nominating an inland operator. Below, we explain both situations when that option is not available.
Nominate inland operator
After you have selected the Nominate inland operator action within the pop-up of the Secure Chain, you will arrive at the next screen (see the screenshot below). When you start typing the name of your inland operator, it is automatically completed with all organisations known to Portbase.
If your inland operator is not known in Cargo Controller Import or Cargo Release Manager, you cannot select them to transfer the role of inland operator. Your inland operator must first register with Portbase and connect to Hinterland Container Notification Road, Rail or Barge to join the Secure Chain. Refer the inland operator to the registration page.
If this blocks your current container from further processing, you have one option: use another inland operator that is known to Portbase.
Authorise logistics chain partner
After you have selected the option appoint cargo director within the pop-up of the Secure Chain, you will arrive at a new screen. See the screenshot below. When you start typing the name of your logistics partner, it is automatically completed with all organisations known to Portbase.
If your logistics partner is not known in Cargo Controller Import or Cargo Release Manager, you cannot select them for the role of cargo director. To do so, your logistics partner must first register with Portbase and choose between Cargo Controller Import or Cargo Release Manager before you can continue with the Secure Chain. Refer the organisation to the registration page.
If this blocks your current cargo from further processing, you have two options:
- Use another logistics service provider that is known to Portbase;
- Nominate the inland operator yourself as a one-off.
