Change in Notification Waste Disposal

1 April 2025 | Notification Waste Disposal

Dear shipping agents,

I would like to inform you of the following:

Untreated sewage
The waste category ‘Sewage’ will be changed to ‘Untreated sewage’. A new version of the Excel upload formulier is available to the captain for this purpose. You should use this from Monday  7 April 2025. The old version will no longer work then!

There is only an reporting duty for ‘Untreated sewage’. The previous form gives the impression that it covers all sewage.

General information
The information on the waste report page and in the Excel upload form has been updated. Some text from the fill-in instruction pop-up has been moved to the ‘General’ tab of the Excel form. The ports belonging to the EU have been described more clearly (inside EU includes Iceland, Norway, United Kingdom (including Isle of Man, Channel islands and Gibraltar) and Russian ports located in the Baltic Sea). The 100% release obligation if the next port is unknown or involves an offshore installation has also been outlined more clearly.

Oily bilge water
All seagoing vessels are required to be equipped with at least one tank for Oil Residues (for sludge and waste oil). However, small seagoing vessels may also store ‘Oily bilge water’ in the Oil Residues tank. These vessels do not have a dedicated bilge water tank. In this case, if the harbour master asks for additional details about ‘Oily bilge water’, in retained you can report 0.001 m3 and as storage capacity 0.01 m3.
