Portbase is renewing its technical landscape with the project “Safely connecting to Portbase”. This means we will start working with verified identities that manage the system link(s) themselves. This way, as a technical administrator, you can easily make changes via the new portal.
Migrating means connecting to a new endpoint and we will no longer use a password but switch to an SSH key pair. Through the system links portal, you can easily set this up per link and have control over when to migrate.
To ensure security, it is important to give the right person access to this portal. If you haven’t already done so, follow these steps.
Migrate and manage your links via the PCS service ‘System Interfaces (EDIFACT/XML)’. This can be found in the PCS portal via https://pcs.portbase.com.
In the system interfaces portal, you can see an overview of your links. Via the “Details” option (on the right), you can see more information and settings about this link. This is the place to prepare the migration and eventually convert your link.
In the first block “Where should I connect to?” you will find the service url and login name to set up the new link in your sFTP client software.
In the second block, you set up the authentication key(s) you will use for the new link. It is important that you know what SSH keys are, how to create them and how to use them in your own sFTP system. Read more about the required SSH keys here.
Click “Add key” to open the Add key screen.
In this screen, you place the public SSH key for the link. In your own sFTP client software, you use the corresponding private SSH key. You can optionally add your own description for the key. Confirm the key via “Add key”.
If the key could be added successfully, the fingerprint, fingerprint comment and any description are visible. If the key is incorrect, an error message will be visible.
The link has now been set up and is ready for testing. Check if you can link from your sFTP client to the Portbase sFTP server using this new link.
If this works, the next step is to migrate the message flows to the new link. We do not support identical message flows through two links, so make sure you pause message flows before switching to the new link.
If you have a new working link and your message flows paused, you can convert the message flows to the new link via the “Migrate system interface” button.
After confirming the migration, message traffic will run via the new link.
