Processing of cancelled Secure Chain authorisations in HCN Barge and Rail

19 December 2024 | Hinterland Container Notification Barge

In this release note we would like to inform you about the change of processing in HCN Barge and Rail that will affect attached handlings are treated when a Secure Chain authorisation is cancelled by your customer, as of Wednesday December 17th 2024.

 Why the change?

Several transport operators provided feedback that pre-notifications were “disappearing” from their barge/rail visits when a Secure Chain authorisation is cancelled. Causing unnecessary confusion and extra work.

What is changing

From Thursday December 19th, the pre-notification won’t be detached anymore, when a Secure Chain authorisation is cancelled. The pre-notification will remain attached to the visit and marked with the status ‘Cancelled’. This can be seen in the HCN webscreen (see example) and can also be picked up in the HCN tracking API to ensure that planners can easily locate and process the pre-notification without much extra work. Detailed API information can be found in the developer portal.

You can find additional explanation in the history tab of the pre-notification for which the nomination has been cancelled (see the second screenshot).

Be aware, in case your customer nominates/authorises your organisation again for the same container, you will need to resubmit the same pre-notification.

We believe this update will improve efficiency. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our Customer Service team customerservice@portbase.com or tel: 088-625 25 25.
